About
Stronsay is know as the Star Isle or Island of Bays with three large bays separated by two isthmuses. There are approximately 350 people living on the island.
The Fish Mart Cafe is a hub for local residents and tourists, providing additional special events. The hostel has links for tourists with the Stronsay Rangers if you are interested in nature walks, with low-food miles packed lunches available on request, made with locally sourced produce. There is also the Craft Trail where you can see the work of local craftspeople and artisans with the opportunity to purchase directly from them. Many local business will be happy to arrange a visit to their studios by arrangement during your stay.
Our neighbouring islet Papa Stronsay, the Golgotha Monastery Island is home to the Transalpine Redemporists monks. You will often see them on Stronsay and travelling by boat between the two islands.
